What's going to happen in your home after these rainy days? BUGS, BUGS...and more BUGS...

June and July are typically the hottest months in North Carolina of the year. I know, I was born and raised in this subtropical climate right along the eastern seaboard. And with that comes enormous amounts of thunderstorms and excessive rainfall. Just in 2017 alone, weather experts have predicted 11-13 named storms. What generally is not talked about is the increased pest activity in and around your homes and businesses after the rain stops, and the beautiful sun shines.

Let's talk about a few pesky critters that you're more likely to see at some point. It''s not a question of if, "It's When".

House Ants

Ants, mainly the Odorous House Ant will make their way into homes through cracks and crevices. Kitchens and bathrooms are the main target areas. They'll seek various amenities like water, shelter, harborage and food. They want and need the same as us to survive. Meats, greases and sugary substances, which is practically anything you purchase is what they eat. But, don't panic...The Eco Man will give you 100% in solving your issues as soon as possible.

Cockroaches, regardless of the species are one of the most elusive, but nagging pests that you can have show up in your home at any given second during the warm, rainy seasons. Quick on their many feet, they dodge your feet, broom, or swatter to make it to safe cover. They'll hide in dark, moist and warm areas feeding on most anything to survive. Typically, outdoor Cockroaches like American, Smoky Brown, Oriental and Brown-banded will lay their eggs in random places, because their random pests. Indoors, outdoors...it doesn't matter. The great thing about these particular species of Cockroaches is that they don't multiply rapidly, so you don't have to worry about them infesting your home. You'll notice a random one here, or there throughout certain times of the year, even occasionally in the winter time if they've had time to migrate indoors before our winter season commences.
